Hanging out with a bunch of cool photograpers

I'm terrible with names... it's just the way I am. I remember faces, but not names. Maybe that's a 'photographer trait', I don't know. But anyway, I went to Seattle Sunday night (after shooting Volleyball all morning and editing like a mad man up until it was time to drive off). I got to meet several local, and some not so local, photographers. I'm not sure the bartender at the Lava Lounge appreciated our cameras and tricks with light and such... I don't care, we had fun!

Here are some pics from the night, I'll do my best to remember names...

When I got there the place had a plumbing problem and was closed, nice that they posted a note, but I had no idea where shorty's was, turned out it was 2 doors down. We only stayed at Shorty's until they got the Lava Lounge open and then we were back, and the only customers for a while...

Dang I forgot...

Again, forgot...

All the way from Vegas, the one and only, John Michael Cooper (don't click if you are afraid of fire)

And his lovely wife Delisa

What's going on here!?!?

or here??

Adam turned out to be the shuffleboard king...

Toxic brew!?!?

It was a blast and I hope we get to do it again!

Photographer's Christmas Party

I got to meet a bunch of cool photographers last Wednesday at the home of my new friends Me Ra and Brian .

I brought my camera (in part as a joke, ask me...) and somehow turned into the event photographer... it was a blast! If you want to see the pictures and read about all the cool photographers that were there, pop over to Me Ra's blog , she posted a bunch of my pictures... ;)

Ft Lewis FRG Christmas Party

Last week I had the great pleasure of attending a welcome home / Christmas party for the families of servicemen who recently returned from a year long tour in Iraq. The group hired me to do family portraits and photos with Santa for the kids. I don't talk much about politics on my blog and I'm not about to start, but suffice to say I was honored to be a part of their celebration.

You can see a one minute slideshow here (turn on your speakers!): FRG Party Slideshow

The gallery for viewing and ordering prints is here: FRG Party Gallery

Thanks again to the organizers of this event for the work you do and also for including me.

See the whole gallery here !

Thanks :)

Splash!

I had the honor of being the official event photographer yesterday at the LOTT Reclaimed Water Festival in Heritage Park next to the Capitol Lake. The music was good, the food was free, the sun was hot and everybody had a great time!

Apple Blossom 2006

Just for the heck of it I pretended I was one of the news photographers covering the parade. I took about 450 shots including most of the VIPs and previous royalty, all the way back to the princess from 1936.

I'll post a few of my favorites here, but if you really want to see ALL of them, just click: 2006 Apple Blossom Gallery

Also if you know anyone involved with the parade that might be interested feel free to pass the link along to them.

This dog looked right at home in his shades, I didn't stage that....

The 1954 Queen:

The 1936 Princess:

The grand marshal is Mike Utley, an ex Detroit Lion's player who was paralyzed on the field and now heads a foundation to support the disabled.

This year's Queen:

There were LOTS of marching bands and dancers too:

The Seattle Police motorcycle drill team is always fun to watch, this year I stood right out in the road to take some shots, so I had to watch out not to get hit!

Would you lets your kids shop from this guy??

This girl from Cashmere fell and twisted her ankle right at the beginning of the parade route, her anguish was part pain and part disappointment at not getting to finish the parade.

It was a fun day! To see more click here: Apple Blossom Gallery
